The ACR1552U USB NFC Reader IV is a CCID & PC/SC compliant smart card reader, developed based on 13.56MHz contactless technology. This plug-and-play NFC reader is equipped with a high-speed communication capability of up to 848 kbps and a built-in SAM slot, providing key diversification and mutual authentication to enhance the security of contactless transactions.
One of the feature highlights of the ACR1552U is extensive support for various types of smart cards, including ISO 14443 Type A and B Contactless Cards, MIFARE® Cards, FeliCa, ISO 18092 NFC, and ISO 15693 Cards. The reader has USB firmware upgradability and extended APDU support, making it versatile and cost-effective hardware for various industries, such as finance, healthcare, and government.
It also offers intelligent support for three modes of NFC including:
- Smart Card reader/writer mode
- Card emulation mode
- Keyboard emulation mode (Config tool on download page)

FIDO Support
The ACR1552U USB NFC Reader IV also supports FIDO (Fast IDentity Online) authentication protocols, making it compatible with FIDO-enabled devices such as PocketKey, ID-One Key and YubiKey. This enables secure, passwordless login and strong 2FA authentication for online services. By leveraging the NFC capabilities of the ACR1552U, users can conveniently authenticate themselves by simply tapping their FIDO-enabled NFC device on the reader.
Integrating FIDO support enhances the security of online transactions and access control systems, making the ACR1552U an ideal choice for e-Government, banking, e-healthcare, network security, and other applications requiring high-level security.

Card Emulation and Keyboard Emulation Capability — The Smart Card and Reader Tool in this SDK includes NFC and NDEF tools to demonstrate the NFC capability of the ACR1552U. The card emulation function enables the card reader to simulate the behavior of a contactless smart card, while the keyboard emulation function allows card readers to work with a wide range of software applications that accept keyboard input.
