Specify the card
Include the card or chip model, memory or application requirements, finished dimensions and whether the card needs contact, contactless or dual-interface operation. Browse smart cards and card operating systems for a starting point.
Prepare the artwork brief
- Supply a preview showing the front and back of the card.
- Include source artwork and identify the colours, fonts and image resolution.
- Indicate chip placement, signature panels, magnetic stripes and any special finishes.
- Describe variable information such as names, numbers, barcodes or QR codes.
- Specify encoding or initialization requirements separately from the printed design.
Request the supplier's artwork template, supported file formats, bleed area and print requirements before finalizing the files. Share sample layouts without live customer data.
Confirm the order details
Ask about supported card stock, printing method, minimum quantities, artwork charges, sample availability and lead time. Agree the proof or sample approval process and personalization checks before production.
